In this age of 24 hour news, streaming services and social media we can all see and hear the struggles of so many anytime we want, and sometimes it seems like whether we want to or not. This constant stream of suffering has, in part, led us to the rather meaningless "thoughts and prayers" response that many give to make themselves feel better before consciously pushing those images out of their minds. You can even now respond to a Facebook post with the "Care" icon, without even taking the time to type out "thoughts and prayers!"
That is clearly NOT the attitude of CUPS' generous supporters, who give genuine prayer to our mighty Savior, regular gifts to the mission, and for many of you, plane rides to the Dominican Republic to let your hands and feet be the change that the communities we serve need!
Scripture says in James 2:15-16 "Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, 'Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well'—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?" Yeah, "thoughts and prayers." But YOU are doing a great deal of good through your gifts! At the sewing center, girls just like in the picture above, girls you support, are not just getting the things they need, but learning to make things to support themselves and their families. Lives are changed, futures are brightened, discipleship is happening, and it's all because of your generous gifts!
The needs of children in the Dominican are not all met, and your opportunity to put faith into action is growing. This Summer we were able to welcome nearly 50 girls to the sewing center, and we're moving in faith to serve even more next year through expansion of existing facilities and adding centers in new villages. Every gift of only $75 gives another child access to life changing skills training, and eternity altering Christian discipleship programs. You can continue to do more than offer "thoughts and prayers" by clicking the Donate button below, and rescuing a child in the DR!
If you missed the CUPS Documentary Premiere you can still see the fruit of your generosity for yourself by watching on our Youtubechannel. I promise you won't be disappointed!
